Remote EIA Technical Director Job Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITY | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
PROJECT LEADERSHIP | Lead environmental inputs to large-scale development projects, particularly focused on renewables & net zero projects in the solar sector. Direct & oversee EIAs for solar & battery storage schemes. |
PROJECT LIFE CYCLE ENGAGEMENT | Lead environmental inputs across all project life stages: early strategy development, site identification studies, feasibility, optioneering/option selection, outline design, detailed design, discharging conditions/requirements, construction, & scheme operation/maintenance. |
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT | Play an instrumental role in seeking out & securing new commissions, actively engaging in client relationship management. Lead business opportunities & associated fee & technical proposal development. |
QUALITY ASSURANCE | Direct the preparation of EIA screening & scoping reports, environmental assessments/Environmental Statements (including future Environmental Outcomes Reports) & supporting documents, with technical review of specialist chapters. |
COLLABORATION & INTEGRATION | Work as part of integrated design teams to identify environmental constraints, avoid impacts, & develop solutions in accordance with the mitigation hierarchy. Work in partnership with internal supply teams & members of the wider business. |
ADVOCACY | Champion AECOM’s environmental services to both internal & external audiences. |

Remote EIA Technical Director Job Requirements
REQUIREMENT | DETAILS |

EIA LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE | Experience directing & managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure development projects. |
CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCE | Experience of leading consultancy services. |
EIA PROCESS UNDERSTANDING | Excellent understanding of EIA processes & environmental assessment methods. |
CONSENTING REGIMES KNOWLEDGE | Detailed understanding of relevant consenting & licensing regimes, especially experience with the DCO consenting regimes (bonus). |
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT | Confidence when engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups & clients. |
TEAMWORK & LEADERSHIP | Ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team, leading inputs from specialist technical teams. |
COMMUNICATION SKILLS | Excellent verbal & report writing skills, including technical reviewing. |
PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS | Project management skills, including programming, staff resource management, & budget management. |
EDUCATION | Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably a Masters degree). |
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP | Appropriate professional membership. |
RENEWABLES EXPERIENCE (BONUS) | Solar and/or other renewables experience. |
